Storms slam Volusia, Central Florida

14 reported deadUPDATED At least 14 people were killed early today as severe thunderstorms and at least one tornado struck central Florida, flattening homes and a church, causing power outages and lifting a tractor trailer into the air, officials said. West Volusia and New Smyrna Beach were hard hit, with some neighborhoods flattened in the DeLand area but no deaths reported there yet. The storms touched down just after 3 a.m. in Lake County, where all the deaths were reported, and then swept across the state, causing a swath of damage from Lady Lake to Ponce Inlet, said David Sharp with the National Weather Service in Melbourne. He said the twisters produced winds of more than 300 mph.


hmm, vielleicht sollten wir das naechstes mal mit der tornado warnung bissle ernster nehemen als uns einfach ins bett zu legen... :-)
Volusia ist das County here. also der bezirk oder wie man das auch immer nennen mag. new smyrna beach ist gleich neben daytona wos hier die besten wellen gibt...also alles gar net so weit weg....
